Sustainability at RUNGIS express

Sustainability and sustainable development are terms that have grown increasingly popular during the past years. They describe a development to meet the today's needs without putting the possibilities of future generations, including those of our children and grandchildren, at risk.
According to a recent study of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), globally, about one-third of food that is produced for human consumption is wasted or gets lost in the processing stages of the food supply chain. At the same time according to the FAO, about 925 million people suffer from hunger and malnutrition. Therefore, the reduction of spoilage and a responsible handling of all natural resources should be one of our primary goals.
In the context of sustainability the reference often goes to the three columns: ecology, economy and society. We are continuously working on the development of new solutions for all these three areas to make them part of our daily operating processes. And it goes without saying that this is part of our philosophy of quality!
